STRENGTHENING AND EQUIPPING

CMDA Pacific Northwest exists to glorify God by educating, encouraging and equipping Christian healthcare professionals, residents, and students to transform lives, their colleagues & staff, their patients, and their own, with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to strengthen and equip physicians & dentists, PA's, NPs, nurses, pharmacists, PTs, residents & students... all healthcare professionals with wisdom and compassion as they serve Christ and the people entrusted to them with virtue, diligence, and excellence. The Word of God serves as our standard and source for all teaching and decisions, both personal and professional. We pray "that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. [Philippians 1:9–11].

Meetings & Activities

We have excellent campus advisors (CA) on all NW campuses except one in the list above. Each CA is the primary key for the success of our student ministries. Often we have a good group of student leaders for a year or two or three, but eventually, we don't. It's the campus advisor who serves as the encourager and guide, and the thread from year to year with institutional memory, history, and vision that links the Christian students together year after year.

Each student group is student lead and supported by their advisor. They choose their schedule and which service opportunities where they invest their time and resources.

ABOUT US

Pacific Northwest Area Director Michael McLaughlin, MDiv, has lived his entire life on the West Coast. He grew up in Seattle, did his undergrad work at Biola U. in LA, and earned his Master of Divinity at Western Seminary in Portland, OR, where he and Linda raised their two children, Andrew and Amy, and have lived for the past 49 years. In 1984, he joined the CMDA field staff team, serving as the western regional director for 38 years, while at the same time, he was the national single's advisor for 25 years and VP of Campus and Community Ministries for five years. On October 1, 2022, he jettisoned 13 of his 15 western states. He handed the reins to Wes Ehrhart, the new Western Regional Director. He took on a new role as the Pacific NW Area Director, overseeing the CMDA ministry in Washington and Oregon. He and Linda live in North Clackamas County, just two miles east of Clackamas Town Center. They will celebrate 50 years of marriage in June, 2024.

Our focus

Washington and Oregon proudly display the tip of the cultural spear, the sexual and ethics revolution in American culture and medicine. The PAS movement started in Oregon, and Oregon is the most unrestrictive of all 50 states regarding abortion. Additionally, Portland and Seattle (representatives of OR and WA) proudly fly every flag of sexual freedom and encourage all others to do the same. (Romans 1.32).

For the past 40 years, CMDA members have taught me many things about ministry to healthcare professionals, residents and students. Supporting the CMDA Pacific Northwest ministry helps to facilitate the West Coast Conference at Cannon Beach, annual road trips with special speakers, coaching and counseling of students and docs who reach out, networking of docs in WA & OR, mentoring students, and shadowing healthcare professionals, leadership training and campus talks as I travel throughout the NW. Your support of the Pacific Northwest Ministry endorses my ministry so I can represent you to those I meet and serve.

Get involved

Each campus group meets at different times. The graduate groups that meet sans students meet annually or quarterly when they meet. The Portland chapter meets quarterly with the medical ministry group at Village Church in Beaverton under the leadership of Dan Crawford, MD and James Smith, MD.

Our annual flagship conference meets in January at the Cannon Beach Conference Center. The next dates are January 16-19, 2024. Our featured speaker will be Farr Curlin, MD from Duke University.

We would love to hear from you.
