Dr. James Tour, a synthetic organic chemist, is presently the T. T. and W. F. Chao Professor of Chemistry, Professor of Computer Science, and Professor of Materials Science and NanoEngineering. Professor Tour has over 800 research publications, over 130 granted patents and over 100 pending patents. He has an h-index = 177 with total citations about 144,000. In 2024, he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
