Where we are involved
Meetings & Activities
Meeting monthly for Bible study, prayer and fellowship. All medical professionals and any level of training in the Gadsden Area are invited. We host dinners for students at doctors homes and cross-campus social gatherings quarterly.
Engaging Healthcare Students & Residents: Residents and rotating medical students at Gadsden Regional Medical Center and other surrounding medical facilities are invited to participate in fellowship and mentorship by Christian healthcare professionals serving in the area.
Our Focus: Equip and encourage Christian Healthcare professions at every level of training to live out the out and be living witnesses of the Gospel by providing excellent and compassionate care for all patients meeting both their physical and spiritual needs.
Our Leadership
Shawn Morehead, MD - Dr. Shawn Morehead, MD is a Family Physician, lifelong residency educator and Miami Hurricanes alumnus and fan whose career has been shaped by a lifelong calling to serve Christ through medicine, teaching, and mentorship. Raised in culturally diverse Miami, Florida, she graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, TN, the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed residency training in Birmingham, AL. Following a medical mission trip to Romania shortly after residency, she recognized God’s calling to use medicine as a platform for serving, healing, teaching, and developing future physicians both domestically and internationally. Over the past three decades, Dr. Morehead has participated in medical educational ministry in more than 50 countries, including a pivotal period living in Central Asia where she helped train Family Medicine residents in a challenging, war-affected setting. In 2020, Dr. Morehead became the Founding Program Director of the GRMC Family Medicine Residency. She remains committed to Christ-centered servant leadership and view any accomplishment as the product of faithful mentors, valued colleagues, and God’s sustaining grace.
Cathie Scarbrough, MD - Dr Scarbrough is the inaugural associate program director of the Gadsden Regional Family Medicine Residency. She is also a current board member of CMDA national. Dr Scarbrough has a passion for overseas missions and underserved medicine stateside.
Bradley Green MD - Dr Green is a Core Faculty member of the Gadsden Regional Family Medicine Residency and Director of Ultrasound Education for the residents. He has a passion for medical education of residents and students, with a focus on whole person and whole family care. He desires to see learners gain international experience to broaden their perspectives on the practice of medicine and encounter opportunities for missions.
James J Arnold, DO - Dr Arnold is retired Air Force Family Faculty Physician now working as the Director of Osteopathic Education and Core Faculty at the Gadsden Regional Family Medicine Residency. Dr Arnold has a deep passion for training future family physicians to who are Missionally living out their Faith serving the underserved both locally and overseas.
